DATA CHOICE: There is a rise in the number of people experiencing allergies to food.
WHY IS THIS THE CASE? What is your hypothesis why this is happening, and how would you test it? [Don’t say DNA — come up with an idea for why it is occurring and then explain how you would test that idea – that is what science is — simply a method for testing]
2) Viral diseases like Ebola and AIDS are both capable of wiping out large populations of people, but in terms of the evolutionary processes that we are studying, Ebola will not likely succeed in doing long term major damage, but AIDS can. Why do you think these two diseases are different evolutionarily? [For the most points use OLIWENSTEIN from the reader. The article is helpful – #2 in the reader]Download OLIWENSTEIN from the reader. Your final research paper will focus on the analysis of a belief system in the form of a discussion that relates to religion and anthropology. You will research and write about the belief system that intrigues you, or one you are familiar with, or one that you want to learn more about. Your final paper will be written based on the outline that you delineated in your proposal. Your final paper must have:
An abstract
An introduction with a thesis statement—in this section you will describe the belief system that you have researched in detail, you will identify a particular issue (of a cultural, social nature) and you will explain how this belief system addresses the supernatural—all belief systems do, even if you’re writing about atheism you need to address the supernatural.
An analysis of the main ideas you will present as part writing about your belief system. Here is where you use content of the literature review that you wrote in your proposal to connect previously written work on your subject matter to your own ideas and analysis of your belief system. For example: Cook (1989) emphasized that many muslim women outside of sub-saharan Africa posses the right to decide for themselves whether they want to wear a veil in public.
A discussion section where you will identify the challenges and/or changes that the belief system is experiencing, and how it fits with the themes discussed in this course.
A conclusion

So, the odds are stacked against them, given that they live in an atmosphere where everyone is eager for assistance.

The Rohingya, whose citizenship is denied by the Myanmar government, is the world’s biggest displaced, stateless group. After a substantial upsurge in violence against Rohingya in Myanmar, particularly in Rakhine State, in 2017, most Rohingya refugees have fled to Bangladesh. In the months after the November 2020 election in Myanmar, further displacements were documented.
As the Rohingya conflict has a long history and has happened under diverse political and economic settings, the geopolitical and economic perspectives of the conflict must also be taken seriously.
Supporting the Rohingya people, NGOs and INGOs have created a business-friendly atmosphere in Bangladesh’s most popular tourism destination, Cox’s Bazar. Long-term, however, 1.1 million Rohingya and 0.5 million locals, a total of almost 1.6 million people, face a disastrous economy. Bangladesh has been confronted with the first wave of the Rohingya crisis’s economic consequences. 81% of cox’s bazaar’s AIDS patients are Rohingya as of July 2022 (total 954 affections). As of August 2018, 273 instances of HIV had been officially reported, rising to 771 in July 2022. The daily mortality toll rises due to the prevalence of AIDS among the local population. With this flood of immigrants, the number is likewise increasing. Malnutrition, unchecked and rampant More than 48 thousand Rohingya newborns are anticipated to be born in Bangladesh in 2022, and they will be exposed to infections and malnutrition from birth, which might result in early death by the age of five. So, the odds are stacked against them, given that they live in an atmosphere where everyone is eager for assistance. The birth of these children reignites bilateral dialogue, notwithstanding Bangladesh’s willingness to help the newborns and their families.
HIV harms the quality of life of infected persons and their families while also contributing to the spread of the virus among sexual partners and children. The National Strategic Plan for HIV and AIDS in Bangladesh has undertaken the responsibility of increasing program coverage for Rohingya refugees, however, this is inadequate.
Keywords: Economy, public health, uncontrolled birth, migration policy, AIDS, HIV

Assignment 1
-Please follow guidelines in syllabus and Canvas for assignment. Remember to include in-text citations and a full references page.
Make sure to answer all of the following questions for Assignment One.
1.) Who were Miner’s Nacirema? What information does the article give to identify them? After reading the article and the accompanying class material, why do you think Miner wrote and described the Nacirema the way he did?
2.) Why was Darwin so influential to the field of biological anthropology? Who do you think helped influence his ideas the most and why (consult textbook – choose at least two)? Why do you think “Natural Selection” is now considered a theory (explain this using definitions and your own thoughts)?
3.) According to the film “Why Sex?” why DID sex evolve as a reproductive technique? What did one particular experiment (shown in the film) illustrate about the importance of sexual reproduction? What other types of reproduction are there? Recall meiosis and mitosis. How does meiosis affect sexual reproduction? What else stood out to you from the film and why?
Film: “Why Sex?”
4.) Find an anthropology article (from a credible news source, biological anthropology preferable, and one that I have not assigned).
– Give a very brief summary of the article. Why did you choose this article and what stood out to you from it? How does it relate to (biological) anthropology? What new scientific findings are being reported? What are the implications of these new findings for anthropology/humanity? What questions or comments do you have about this article?
