Prepare an annotated bibliography of at least 1,110 words to support a thesis statement about the value and cost of an undergraduate college education for a US citizen. If you want, you may focus on your own major. Do not address community college degrees or post-graduate (M.A., M.S., Ph.D.) or professional degrees (law school, med. school, etc.).
The final bibliography should have five useful, reliable sources which could produce a useful short paper on this topic. Find your sources using Google search. All sources must be from credible news periodicals like The Washington Post, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Vox, and so on. Scholarly sources or books are not acceptable for this assignment, but you should find quality sources. Blog entries, social media posts, etc. are definitely unacceptable.
The bibliography should have an MLA header, a title, a thesis statement (italicized), an MLA works cited entry for each source, and an annotation for each source. The annotations should each be about 200 words long and should contain a brief summary of the source, a sentence on why the source is (or isn’t!) reliable, and two or three sentences on how you would use the source in a paper supporting your thesis. Annotations should be in your own original writing, but you may use short quotations if they’re useful. Another very common mistake is that students tend to plagiarize in this assignment. I need to see that you can summarize. Consequently, penalties for plagiarism are severe, typically an F for this paper.
